Their products are of a premium quality yet they’re priced in the mid-range price bracket. Over the years tulo has earned the respect of professionals in the mattress industry with their continued devotion to quality, comfort, and customer satisfaction.

Today we are going to take look at tulo and see what they’re all about. We’re going to analyze the materials used in their products, review them impartially, and answer some questions you should be asking.

Let’s get started.

Key Components Of tulo Mattresses

While there are slight differences between the 3 variations of the tulo mattress (mainly firmness and support levels), they are all based on the same design and the same materials. They’re all hybrid products that combine various layers of different kinds of foam. This allows them to create a final product that has their combined strengths, with less of their weaknesses.

Cool Flow Memory Foam

The 2.5” thick layer of memory foam that makes up the top layer of every tulo mattress is some of the most advanced, highest quality memory foam on the market. It’s been specifically designed by tulo to provide impeccable support without any of the traditional side effects that memory foam suffers from.

Ask anyone who has slept on a “cheap” memory foam mattress what they think about the material, and they’ll tell you it’s great – but it gets hot.

This is the main problem with the material – it absorbs, stores, and radiates heat. Memory foam wasn’t initially made for use in mattresses, so heat retention wasn’t an issue. But as soon as it became available to the mattress industry brands realized that they needed to find a way to cool memory foam down if the public were going to fully enjoy its contouring comfort.

One of the best ways to do this was by creating what is known as open cell memory foam (which is what cool flow memory foam is).

Normal memory foam is made from countless little cells that contain trapped air inside them. When body heat enters the mattress it heats the air inside the cells, and as it has no way of escaping, the mattress heats up.

Open cell memory foam solves this issue by making the cells partially open at one side (which allows airflow throughout the mattress). It’s a reasonably obvious and simple solution to the overheating problem in theory, but actually creating the foam was no small task.

Regardless tulo (and other manufacturers) pressed on with their open cell quest, and these days there are several different types of open cell foam available on the market. Some are more ventilated than others, and tulo’s cool flow foam is one of the better ones.

Tulo goes one step further than many other brands by adding a layer of titanium particles into the memory foam mixture before it hardens. This is an effective (but expensive) alternative to cooling gel memory foam.

As you probably remember from high school chemistry classes, metals conduct heat extremely well. By having titanium flakes mixed into the memory foam some of the heat is absorbed by the titanium instead of the foam. The titanium then distributes the heat throughout the mattress which reduces hotspots under the sleeper giving a much cooler sleeping surface.

The combination of titanium and open cell design make this one of the coolest sleeping surfaces on the planet. It’s an incredible modern marvel that is one of our favorite memory foam varieties on the planet.

Peak And Valley Foam

The next layer down underneath the memory foam is a layer of peak and valley foam. Tulo do a little bit of marketing magic here to make it sound like it’s an advanced material, but in reality, it’s not that special. It’s a fairly standard layer of high-quality comfort foam.

However, what is special about this layer is the way it is shaped (and the way it interacts with the memory foam layer above).

As the name suggests this layer is shaped with peaks and valleys (it kind of looks like an egg carton). This means that there are several different channels and pathways that air can freely flow around throughout the night.

The memory foam layer above has several vertical holes running from the top of the mattress all the way through to the top of this peak and valley foam layer. This means that air can flow out the top of the memory foam layer, and it can flow out the bottom of it too – creating a true multi-exit ventilation system.

Any hot air that reaches this layer will flow towards the edge of the mattress where it meets the ultra-breathable cover (and then flows out into your bedroom).

These two layers combined create a mattress that is exceptionally cool, even for the warmest sleepers in the hottest climates.

Comfort Foam

The next layer down is made from the exact same foam as the peak and valley layer above. The only difference is that it’s a single solid piece instead of being shaped for ventilation. This provides stability and support to the upper layers and adds a little extra plush comfort for the sleeper.

High-Density Foam

The bottom layer of this mattress is made again from a reasonably standard (but still high quality) layer of high-density foam. It’s what holds the whole mattress together and provides a strong and stable base for the product. It’s not particularly fancy or advanced (like most base layers), but as we always say – it gets the job done.

How Much Do tulo Mattresses Cost?

Tulo Mattresses are in the mid-range price bracket and are very well priced in our opinion. The quality of materials used combined with the brand’s incredible reputation for quality makes us think that they are a little underpriced. Either way, we’re not complaining.

The different firmness levels don’t affect the price, but obviously, the size of the mattress does. Their smallest twin products retail for $375 and their largest California king products are around $800.

Tulo Mattress Review

Let’s take a look at the 4 most important variables we like to judge mattresses on and see how tulo fares in our review section.

Tulo’s products are all incredibly supportive (regardless of which firmness level you choose). The high-quality memory foam requires very little heat to start the contouring process which means you’re going to be cradled from the moment you lie down. The advanced quality comfort foam (and high-density foam) layers work hand in hand with one another to provide one of the most supportive base sections we’ve seen in a long time.

Comfort is usually a little subjective and we sometimes find this section hard to impartially assess. However, because tulo has invested such a huge amount of effort into creating products that are suitable for different tastes – we’re sure you’ll find something that’s to your liking. Soft, medium, or firm – tulo’s products are exceptionally comfortable.

Heat Dissipation

As you might have guessed from our component breakdown at the start of this article – we love tulo’s heat dissipation technology.

The utilization of titanium infusion is something that we very rarely see. It’s an expensive yet effective way of distributing heat evenly. On its own, this would be a noteworthy feature, but combine it with the open cell design, the ventilation holes, and the peak and valley comfort foam layer – and this product is a winner.

In our opinion, tulo’s products are great value for money. The quality of the materials used is exceptional. They could probably charge a little more for their mattresses if they really wanted to.

Commonly Asked Questions

Do Tulo Mattresses Come With A Warranty?

Tulo offer a 10-year warranty on their mattresses as standard. We’re always a little disappointed when we see products in this price bracket with a 10-year warranty. There are lower quality brands that manage to give their customers peace of mind for 20 or even 25 years with their warranties – so why can’t tulo?

Either way, it’s a comprehensive warranty and tulo’s customer support department are renowned for their efficiency. We highly doubt you’ll ever need to use the warranty anyway – these guys don’t mess around when it comes to quality control.

Are Tulo Mattresses Firm Or Soft?

As we mentioned earlier, tulo makes one product – but they make it in three different firmness levels. You’ll be able to find soft, medium, and firm versions of the tulo mattress to suit all tastes.

Do Tulo Mattresses Sleep Cool Or Hot?

Tulo’s mattresses sleep exceptionally cool. The combination of open cell memory foam with the heat dispersing properties of titanium is a no expense spared solution to the problem of overheating. It’s one of the most advanced cooling memory foams on the market.

The combination of this foam with the ventilation holes running into the peak and valley foam layer below (and the breathable cover) ensure a super cool sleeping surface all year round.

How Long Do Tulo Mattresses Last?

Tulo provide a 10-year warranty on these products, but you’ll be able to get at least 15 to 20 years of use out of one of their mattresses before you notice any issues whatsoever. They’re quality products, made from high-end materials, by a brand that really goes above and beyond to create the most durable products they possibly can.

Are Tulo Mattresses Good For Side, Back Or Stomach Sleepers?

Tulo has specifically created 3 different versions of their mattress to allow them to cater to the specific needs of all sleeping positions. They’re one of the few brands who has invested in a mattress matching system to help customers pick the right product. By answering a few questions about your sleeping style they’ll let you know which mattress you should pick.

If for any reason you end up picking a product and feel it’s a little too soft or firm, you’ll be glad to know that tulo offers a 120-night money back guarantee on all their mattresses. If for any reason you don’t like the product, you can simply call up their world class customer support team and ask for a different version (or a complete refund).
