- We Recommend the Snuggle-Pedic Mattress for People That:
With a name as cute and cuddly as Snuggle-Pedic, it’s hard to resist at least looking into the products this brand has to offer. In our opinion, their mattresses live up to the adorable brand name, and they are considered by many to be one of the best memory foam products on the market.
Their unique approach to ventilation combined with a dedication to premium quality materials ensures a cool comfortable night’s sleep for anyone lucky enough to call a Snuggle-Pedic mattress their own.
Today we are going to take a look at Snuggle-Pedic and their highly popular mattress to see what they are, why they’re special, and we’re going to answer some frequently asked questions.
Let’s get started.
Key Components To A Snuggle-Pedic Mattress
Snuggle-Pedic has decided to divert all of their resources into creating a single mattress. It’s a hybrid product that uses just 3 layers (which is much less than many other products). However, the layers are thick, high quality, and most importantly – hi-tech.
Kool Flo Bamboo Knit Cover
The outer covering of the Snuggle-Pedic mattress is made from bamboo. If this is the first time you’ve heard of bamboo being used in a mattress, don’t freak out – it’s much softer than it sounds. The fibrous bamboo strands are treated with chemicals which makes them softer than cotton before being woven into a sheet of fabric.
The reason many brands like to use bamboo (or rayon) for the cover of their mattresses is that it has many admirable natural qualities. It’s hypoallergenic, it’s stretchable, and most importantly, it provides excellent thermal regulation as it’s very well ventilated.
And as you’ll see in a minute, ventilation is what this product is all about.
Snuggle-Flex Comfort Layer
This layer makes up around 25% of the mattresses overall height. It’s a variation of memory foam that Snuggle-Pedic has had custom designed for their needs (called Snuggle-Flex). Despite their best efforts at telling us otherwise via their marketing, Snuggle-Flex is very similar to traditional memory foam, but it does have one notable difference.
The main thing you’ll notice that’s different between Snuggle-Flex and traditional memory foam is that it’s very buoyant and provides a lofty sensation while you’re lying on it. It almost feels like you’re floating on top of the mattress while being supported in all the right places at the same time.
It’s a great little benefit, but in all honesty, apart from this (and enhanced durability), Snuggle-Flex is almost identical to standard memory foam.
So what’s all the fuss about?
Snuggle-Pedic has done something very clever with this mattress. They know that ventilation is the best way to solve the inherent overheating issues that are present in memory foam mattresses. It’s why open cell memory foam is the most effective variety of foam in terms of heat dissipation.
Snuggle-Pedic also knows that open cell memory foam is pretty expensive. Despite this price tag, it provides just as much comfort and support as traditional memory foam. Consumers are essentially paying more for open cell products just to stay cooler throughout the night.
Snuggle-Pedic managed to find a way to make a product from reasonably standard Snuggle-Flex memory foam that can cool better than the most advanced and expensive open cell products on the market.
Like open cell memory foam, Snuggle-Pedic does this through the use of ventilation. The memory foam layer in their mattress is littered with countless vertical holes that run from the very top to the very bottom of the layer. These ventilation holes are small, but they dramatically reduce the amount of heat that’s trapped in the mattress.
However, this isn’t anything particularly special, a few other brands do this in their memory foam layers too.
What makes Snuggle-Pedic special is how far they take this extreme ventilation concept by creating a symbiotic relationship with the other layers in their product.
Channelled Support Layer
This is the bottom layer of the mattress. In the vast majority of products on the market (even premium products) this is usually nothing more than a slab of standard high-density foam.
When other brands use the vertical ventilation hole design in their memory foam layers, the air can only really go upwards. The required high density of the solid base layer offers more resistance than the softer upper layers. As there is effectively only one entry and exit point, traditionally the efficiency of the ventilation is dramatically reduced.
Picture This: Imagine blowing into a straw from a slight distance with your finger over one end, that’s what’s traditionally happening in products that use this vertical ventilation hole system.
Snuggle-Pedic were the first to come up with an astoundingly simple solution to this problem (which they quickly patented). Their base layer has several rows of horizontal grooves located where the vertical ventilation holes from the memory foam layer emerge. These thin grooves run the entire length of the base layer and out to the side of the mattress.
This design means that the air now has two potential exit and entry points with minimal resistance. It can flow freely in and out of whatever hole it chooses like any ventilation system worthy of the name should be able to.
Picture This: It’s like blowing on the same straw as we hypothetically imagined earlier, except this time your finger is no longer covering the end.
What’s more is that because the outermost cover of the mattress (the Kool Flo layer we mentioned earlier) is made from breathable bamboo, the air doesn’t get trapped between the cover and the foam layers. It’s free to exit into your bedroom and be replaced with cool air ready to carry more heat away.
All three of these layers working together is what’s known as Snuggle-Pedic’s patented “Airflow Transfer System”.
Don’t let its seemingly simple nature fool you, it’s incredibly effective.
Snuggle-Pedic very rarely issues any coupon codes themselves. When they do, they’re usually for their smaller products (like pillows and occasionally mattress toppers).
You may be able to find other stores that carry Snuggle-Pedic products providing coupons if you get lucky, but we wouldn’t recommend holding your breath waiting around for them.
How Much Do Snuggle-Pedic Mattresses Cost?
Snuggle-Pedic’s products are at the higher end of the mid-range price bracket (ranging into premium territory). Considering the quality of the product that they’re providing we feel it’s a fair price point – although we’d obviously like to see it a little cheaper.
Their smallest twin mattress will set you back around $450, and their largest mattress the California queen will set you back around $999 (with all the other sizes somewhere in-between).
In this section, we are going to take a look at what we feel are the 4 most important aspects of any good mattress – support, comfort, heat dissipation, and price.
The thick layer of Snuggle-Flex memory foam provides impeccable levels of support that’s a notable improvement upon (the already impressive) properties of traditional memory foam. It’s an incredibly supportive mattress that will be suitable for all sleeping positions and tastes.
With a name like Snuggle-Pedic, these mattresses had a lot to live up to when they first entered the market. Luckily they go above and beyond in the comfort department and make one of the most relaxing and luxurious feeling products on the market. Their customization service ensures that you’ll be able to tailor the feel of your mattress and make it just the way you want it.
The simple yet astonishingly effective Airflow Transfer System that Snuggle-Pedic created (and patented) creates one of the coolest memory foam based products on the market. When you see a system like this and compare it to the other kinds of “ventilation hole” systems that other brands use, it really puts things into perspective.
The only thing we could moan slightly about with Snuggle-Pedic (if we were being picky) is the price. We honestly feel it’s a fairly priced product, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t be a little bit cheaper in an ideal world.

Commonly Asked Questions
Does The Snuggle-Pedic Mattress Come With A Warranty?
All of Snuggle-Pedic’s mattresses come with a generous 20-year warranty that covers manufacturing defects, but interestingly it also covers sag.
Sagging is something that naturally happens to memory foam after many years of use, and it’s not usually well covered in warranties (brands will generally only cover sag of more than an inch, or even an inch and a half).
Snuggle-Pedic, however, are very confident in the quality of their Snuggle-Flex memory foam. If at any time in the next 20 years your memory foam layer sags more than just ¾ of an inch – you can call them up to get it repaired or replaced free of charge.
We should also mention in this section that Snuggle-Pedic has a very generous (and easy to use) 4-month sleep trial. If you order one of their products and don’t like it for any reason you can return it for a full refund.
Is The Snuggle-Pedic Mattress Firm Or Soft?
As standard, the Snuggle-Pedic is a medium firmness product. It hits the Goldilocks zone that the vast majority of the population prefer. However, Snuggle-Pedic knows that many people prefer softer or harder sleeping surfaces, so they have an alteration service.
At any time during the 4-month sleep trial we mentioned above you can call up Snuggle-Pedic and ask them to make your mattress softer or harder than it currently is. Snuggle-Pedic will then come and collect your mattress, take it to their US-based facility, and make the requested alteration (this is all free, including transportation).
They’ll then return your mattress to your door reasonably quickly, and it will be as firm or as soft as you desired.
Does the Snuggle-Pedic Mattress Sleep Cool or Hot?
Snuggle-Pedic products are incredibly cool, regardless of how hot you sleep or how warm your local climate is. Their Airflow Transfer System we explained above is an exceptionally effective ventilation design, despite being reasonably simple.
It allows the sleeping surface to be as cool as (or cooler than) some of the best thermal insulators currently used in mattress design.
How long does a Snuggle-Pedic mattress last?
The Snuggle-Flex memory foam layer (like all memory foam) is the weakest part of the entire mattress. But, as Snuggle-Flex is more durable and of a higher density than normal memory foam, it can be relied upon for much longer (as is proven by the length of the warranty).
You’ll easily be able to get 20 years of use out of this mattress without issue, 25 years would not be surprising.
Are Snuggle-Pedic’s Mattresses Good for Side, Back or Stomach Sleepers?
As standard, the medium firmness that is provided by the unmodified Snuggle-Pedic mattress will be acceptable for everyone, regardless of their sleeping position. It’s in the overlapping medium firmness section of the spectrum that’s acceptable (but perhaps not optimal) for all sleeping positions.
Different sleeping positions need firmer and softer mattresses for optimal spinal health. By taking advantage of the free customization service that Snuggle-Pedic offers you’ll be able to tailor your mattress to your specific needs, regardless of how you sleep.
We Recommend the Snuggle-Pedic Mattress for People That:
Get Hot During The Night – Snuggle-Pedic’s Airflow Transfer System creates an incredible amount of ventilation that keeps the sleeping surface exceptionally cool. You’ll not experience any hot spots throughout the night, and you’ll sleep well regardless of how hot you normally run while you sleep.
Want a US Made Product – Many people like to buy American. When you deal with Snuggle-Pedic you’re going to be buying from a US company, that makes US products, in its US factory. It’s as American as apple pie.
So there you have it, a comprehensive overview into the world of the Snuggle-Pedic mattress.
The amazingly simple design of the Airflow Transfer System occasionally puts some people off due to its low tech nature.
But as we said earlier, don’t let that fool you. This is an exceptional mattress that combines the comfort and support of memory foam with unbeatable thermal regulation.
If it’s within your price range, it’s more than worthy of your consideration.
